Rotary Stories

3 students from RBV and 3 students from Mission Vista attended the Interact Symposium event this past Saturday in Liberty Station.

They worked in small groups improving their networking and public speaking skills.  They also did workshops on energizing your club and retaining membership. All who participated really enjoyed the experience and are excited to take back what they learned and get their clubs going for the 2017-18 school year.
Once again the "Dynamic Duo" (Cindy and Darcy) knocked the Strawberry Festival out of the park!!  They deserve major kudos for the amazing leadership and dedication to this fundraising project.  We had more competition this year in that all of the strawberry vendors were within our immediate booth location, taking away some of our business.  Despite this turn of events, we did extremely well.  After expenses all come in, we estimate a net profit a bit higher than our net profit in 2016. It was a fabulous day and a huge thank you to all the Rotarians, Interactors and friends that participated on Saturday and Sunday, especially Cindy and Darcy.  Bravo everyone!!!!
Thank you Daryl, Sue, Tod, Brenda, Stephanie, Steve and Marie along with some of her Young Marines for beautifying the VHN Memorial Wall. Check out our new sign on the Memorial Wall bench!
We have the BEST Rotary Club!!

AJ won first place in the district 4-Way Speech Contest!  The competition was unbelievable and needless to say, she was outstanding. In addition to some really neat swag, the first place prize was $1,000!  A good start on

her UCLA adventure this fall. Congratulations AJ!

Alyssa Maloney, from Rancho Buena Vista High School, won at the sub-regional in Carlsbad and Joey Clough from Guajome Park Academy won the sub regional at Fallbrook Rotary. Great job!!
Greetings from the Interact booth at the National Youth Leadership Conference. Rotary was well represented. Awesome ideas about engaging young people in Rotary.

The 4-Way Speech Contest, held on February 21 at Shadowridge Country Club, featured eight contestants from four VUSD high schools. About forty people were in attendance, including contestants, teachers, family members and Vista Hi Noon club members. The speeches were excellent. The two contestants who are advancing to compete in sub-regionals are Alyssa Maloney from Rancho Buena Vista High School and Joey Clough from Guajome Park Academy. Alyssa will participate in the sub-regional in Carlsbad, to be held at 6:30 pm on Thursday, March 16 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Carlsbad. Joey will be in the sub-regional in Fallbrook, to be held at noon on Thursday, March 23 at the Grand Tradition. Club members are invited to attend one or both of the contests
